What are the decomposition products of sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) after high temperature?

Pure SF6 gas is colorless, tasteless, non-toxic, non-flammable inert gas, its own decomposition temperature is greater than 500 ° C, in the normal operation of the decomposition products are very few, but when co-existing with metal materials, at 200 ° C it is possible to occur trace decomposition. As the insulating medium of gas-insulated combined electrical apparatus (GIS), sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) gas has excellent insulation and arc extinguishing performance, and can greatly reduce the size of equipment, so it is widely used in GIS and SF6 circuit breakers and other equipment. In fact, the SF6 gas in use contains a certain amount of air and water, and a variety of low fluorine sulfides generated by the above decomposition are very active, that is, react with trace water and oxygen in the SF6 gas body. Due to the combination of SF6 decomposition and water, HF.H2S.CO.SO2 and other compounds have a strong corrosion effect on other insulation and metal materials in the equipment, and then accelerate insulation deterioration, and eventually lead to sudden equipment failure. However, during the installation and operation of GIS equipment, the internal defects of GIS, such as electrode surface burrs, free conductive particles and suspended conductors, cause partial discharge or overheating.

Sulfur hexafluoride gas electrical equipment insulation materials through corona, spark and arc discharge, but also produce a variety of toxic, corrosive gases and solid decomposition products. These gases mainly include thionyl fluoride (SOF2), sulfuryl fluoride (SO2F2), sulfur tetrafluoride (SF4), sulfuryl tetrafluoride (SOF4), sulfur dioxide (SO2), disulfide decafluoride (S2F10), disulfide oxydecafluoride (S2F10O), etc. The main solid decomposition products are copper fluoride (CuF2), difluorodimethylsilicon [Si (CH3) 2 F2], aluminum trifluoride (AlF3) powder. Such as insulating parts with epoxy phenolic glass cloth plate (rod, tube) containing silicon components; Or epoxy resin castable parts, moulded parts and porcelain bottles, silicone rubber, silicone grease with quartz sand and glass as fillers play a chemical role, and also generate SiF4, Si (CH3) 2F2 and other products.
