High voltage electrical equipment in SF6 gas moisture hazards, its decomposition will produce what toxic gases?

The insulation performance of SF6 gas is superior, but if it contains water or the surface of the solid medium is damp, the electrical strength will be significantly reduced, SF6 gas insulation performance is superior, if it contains water, the electrical strength will be significantly reduced. As early as the 1970s SF6 circuit breaker used in the early days of the power system, the United States has a number of causes of SF6 humidity exceeded and caused equipment explosion accidents, it can be seen that the impact of SF6 gas water content on electrical equipment is very large.

SF6 circuit breakers and other equipment have been used in China for more than 20 years, and a considerable number of circuit breakers have the problem of humidity exceeding or slightly exceeding the standard, so it is crucial to understand the impact of water in SF6 gas on the equipment and how to judge the insulation status of the equipment according to the SF6 humidity value. Pure SF6 is chemically stable, slightly soluble in water, and theoretically non-toxic.

However, the sulfur hexafluoride gas decomposition in the electrical equipment reacts with the water in it to produce some toxic products. As follows: sulfur hexafluoride decomposition of toxic gases: 1, thionyl fluoride (SOF2) colorless highly toxic gas, can invade the lungs, cause acute edema of lung tissue, affect gas exchange, make the lungs hypoxic congestion and lead to asphyxiation death, it has a strong nausea odor, can be used as a warning signal. The lethal concentrations in mice and rabbits were 10×10-6 and 50×10-6 (V/V). 2, sulfuryl fluoride (SO2F2) clonic compounds, colorless odorless, at higher concentrations have a stimulating effect on lung tissue, causing alveolar bleeding. The lethal concentrations in mice and rabbits were 200×10-6 and 400×10-6 (V/V). 3, sulfur tetrafluoride (SF4) colorless gas, has a pungent odor similar to SO2, toxicity and phosgene, the lung has an infringement effect. 4, sulfur difluoride (SF2) boiling point 35 ℃, extremely unstable, more active after heating, easy hydrolysis to produce S, O2, HF, etc., its toxicity in HF equivalent 5, sulfur fluoride (S2F2) at room temperature is colorless gas, with strong toxicity, after water to produce HF, the respiratory system has a similar destructive effect of phosgene. 6, hydrogen fluoride (HF) colorless gas or liquid, with a strong pungent odor, easily dissolved in water, the formation of hydrofluoric acid, the general material has a strong corrosion. HF has a strong stimulating effect on the skin and mucous membrane, and can cause pulmonary edema, pneumonia, etc. 7, disulfide decafluoride (S2F10) is a colorless volatile liquid at normal temperature and pressure, a highly toxic substance, the toxicity is about 300 times that of SOF2. S2F10 mainly invades pulmonary sites, causing pulmonary hemorrhage and pulmonary edema. The lethal concentration in mice was 1×10 (V/V). 8, aluminum trifluoride (AIF3) white powder, usually adsorbs a large number of toxic gaseous decomposition products, so it should be regarded as a strongly corrosive and toxic substance. ALF3 dust can irritate the skin and cause rashes, which are invasive to the respiratory system and lungs. 9, sulfur monoxide decafluoride (S2F10O) highly toxic substances, strong invasion of lung tissue. The lethal concentration in mice was 20×10 (V/V). Individual protection measures (1) The work site should be strongly ventilated, and the maintenance personnel should be in the upwind position; (2) Wear a gas mask and protective gloves; (3) The discharged gas is recovered, or the gas is discharged into the gutter with a conduit, and it is not suitable to be discharged directly to the atmosphere; (4) Wash face, neck, arms and hands thoroughly with soap and plenty of water before or after work breaks; (5) If accidentally exposed to a large dose of gas, should immediately wash, change clothes, and promptly go to the hospital for observation and treatment.
