The acid and acid substances in sulfur hexafluoride gas will cause corrosion and accelerate deterioration of equipment and solid insulation materials, and is one of the important indicators of quality control of sulfur hexafluoride gas. In DL/T 916-2005 "sulfur hexafluoride gas acidity determination method", it is required to first pass a certain volume of sulfur hexafluoride gas through a dilute alkali solution containing an indicator, so that the acidic substance is absorbed, and then titrate the excess alkali with an acid standard solution, and calculate the acidity according to the volume and concentration of the consumed acid standard solution and the quaity of sulfur hexafluoride.
On May 13, the WINFOSS research team successfully developed an environmental protection treatment device for SF6 decomposition, which took a solid step toward non-toxic recycling by grinding, heating, stirring, temperature monitoring, pH monitoring and water level monitoring.

Through extensive data and problem collection, the team members found that there were problems with the adsorbents used in the SF6 breakdown products produced in the operation of power equipment. The previously used toxic SF6 adsorbent must be buried in deep pits after simple treatment, which will cause great pollution to the environment. At the same time, the treatment method is time-consuming and laborious, the chemical reaction time is usually more than 30 hours, and the treatment effect is not ideal. In view of this, the company's research and development team members after full discussion,
decided to develop a set of purification device to change the “ Harsh reality ” .
In the case of local superheat fault, the adsorbent will not only adsorb trace moisture in the gas chamber and affect the superheat decomposition process of SF6 gas insulating medium, but also produce different degrees of adsorption on SF6 superheat decomposition characteristic components, which makes it more complicated to diagnose the internal insulation fault of gas insulating equipment by using SF6 fault decomposition principle. The effect of the adsorbent on the local superheated decomposition characteristics of SF6 was studied, and the gas production of SF6 decomposition components and the chemical morphology of the elements contained in the electrode material were solved.

The results showed that the volume fractions of SOF2, SO2, SO2F2, CS2 and CO25 components were as follows :φ SO2φ SOF2φ CO2φ SO2F2φ CS2; With the increase of the amount of adsorbent, the growth curve of the volume fraction of the five components gradually slowed down, and the degree of slowing down was :SO2SOF2SO2F2CO2CS2; By X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis, it was found that FeF3, Fe2O3 and FeS existed in the stainless steel heating electrode after the experiment, the adsorbent after the experiment contained a very small amount of adsorption state SO2, and the main form of F in the adsorbent was MgF2.
SF6 adsorbent environmental treatment device can not only carry out the environmental treatment of SF6 adsorbent, but also establish a platform for further experimental research on SF6 adsorbent regeneration and environmental treatment. Secondly, through in-depth research on SF6 gas decomposition characteristics, the R & D team's understanding of SF6 gas performance was enhanced, which provided a solid theoretical basis for SF6 gas supervision and fault diagnosis in the future.
After half a year of hard work, the members successfully developed the SF6 adsorbent environmental protection treatment device. Through the functions of grinding, heating, stirring, temperature monitoring, pH monitoring and water level monitoring, the device promotes the development of toxic recycled products to take a solid step towards non-toxic development. At the same time, after the commissioning and operation of the equipment, the R & D team members carried out several actual treatment of adsorbents, processing 2.6 %. 5.3kg of adsorbent takes less than 2 hours, reduces the number of repeated operations of adding alkali and acid, saves raw materials, reduces operation and maintenance costs, improves the reliability and safety of the use of adsorbent, and has important environmental protection value and broad application prospects.
Through this development, the ability of R & D team members to work together and tackle technical problems has been greatly improved. The team members will also use the results of this activity to further carry out theoretical and experimental research on the environmental protection treatment of new SF6 decomposition adsorbent, summarize the treatment process, and develop a more intelligent adsorbent treatment device.
