The density of SF6 gas is indirectly expressed by the pressure value of SF6 gas after temperature compensation. SF6 density relay works under the rated pressure, when the ambient temperature changes, the pressure of SF6 gas also changes, and the temperature compensation device inside the density relay automatically compensates its changed pressure, so that its pressure does not change with the temperature change. When the gas leaks for some reason, the pressure drops and drops to the alarm setting value, the density relay outputs the group (alarm) signal and the device performs air recharging. When the pressure continues to drop and drops to the lock setting value, the density relay outputs the second group (lock) signal and the control system blocks, thus realizing the protection of the high voltage switch and the power grid equipment.
